Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erden, announced today that he has requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council over Iran's attack on Israel.

The International Security Council is holding an emergency session Sunday to look at the latest developments in the Iranian attack on Israel in response to the bombing of its base in Damascus, according to the Maltese presidency of the Council. And a spokesman for the Maltese diplomatic mission that's taking over the presidency of the Council this April said, "We plan to hold the meeting (at one point) at 16.00 p.m. [Grinch time]."
The attack on Israel, carried out by Iran as retaliation for Israel's destruction of the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, was condemned by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Joseph Borrell and European Council President Charles Michel. A meeting of the UN Security Council has also been convened for today, Ambassador Samuel Žbogar confirmed to the STA.
