UN body says over 1,000 have been killed seeking food in Gaza since May as hunger crisis worsens
GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE, JUL 22 – The United Nations reports 1,054 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces near aid sites since late May, with 766 deaths linked to Gaza Humanitarian Foundation locations, worsening Gaza's food crisis.
- On Tuesday, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said `The so called 'GHF' distribution scheme is a sadistic death trap`, adding that snipers open fire randomly on crowds as if they are given a licence to kill.
- After Israel imposed a full blockade on Gaza on March 2, 2025, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began aid supplies in late May once restrictions eased, Philippe Lazzarini noted.
