- On Friday, two men pleaded not guilty to plotting arson attacks linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer between April 1 and May 13.
- Accused individuals are said to have targeted two properties and a Toyota RAV4 linked to Sir Keir Starmer with fires on May 8, May 11 and May 12 in Kentish Town and Islington, north London.
- Appearing by videolink from HMP Belmarsh, the three defendants faced Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb, were remanded in custody, and Stanislav Carpiuc did not enter a plea.
- The prosecution has said the case is not being treated as having a terrorist connection; a further hearing is scheduled for November 28 and a provisional trial date set for April 27 next year.
- Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said the circumstances were `somewhat opaque` and `Plainly they are co-ordinated and must have some motive or purpose behind them`, while Sir Keir Starmer called the fires `an attack on all of us, on democracy and the values that we stand for`.
