Ukrainian drone strike hits key Russian oil port, damages foreign vessels

  • On Sunday, Krasnodar authorities said a Ukrainian drone attack damaged an oil tanker in the Russian Black Sea port of Tuapse, with fragments of UAVs striking its deck superstructure.
  • Kyiv has stepped up strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, targeting the Tuapse oil terminal and Rosneft-controlled Tuapse oil refinery several times this year to disrupt fuel supplies and military logistics.
  • Damage inside the port included battered infrastructure and a shipboard fire, with the Krasnodar administration saying port buildings and other infrastructure were damaged and a fire broke out on the vessel.
  • The terminal's strategic role means disruption can affect export flows, but Krasnodar administration said there were no injuries reported amid the damage.
  • Civilian structures and the local station sustained limited damage as falling debris damaged an apartment building in Sosnovyi village and the Tuapse railway station, Krasnodar authorities said.
