- The draft proposes security guarantees from the United States, NATO and European countries and outlines Ukrainian troop withdrawals with a demilitarised zone policed by Ukraine.
- The Kremlin said Moscow is analysing proposals brought by Kirill Dmitriev, Russian special envoy, while Rustem Umerov, Ukraine's Defense Council Secretary and negotiator, will hold further talks with US envoys soon.
- While fighting continues, diplomatic talks advance despite a large aerial attack this month killing at least three and injuring at least 17, with key territorial questions around Donbas and Zaporizhzhia unresolved, Zelenskyy said a meeting with President Donald Trump is needed.

Ukrainian President Selenskyy discussed ways to end the Russian war of aggression with U.S. special envoys Witkoff and Kushner. Selenskyy called the approximately one-hour telephone call "constructive" and explained that some important points had been discussed.
Zelensky in his Christmas message: "We dream that he dies (Putin), but also something greater, such as peace" . The Russian embassy in Rome attacks Italy again: "His policy is Ukrainianized" .
