Ukraine strikes a key industrial site deep inside Russia
Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles struck a major Russian missile plant producing Iskander-M and intercontinental ballistic missiles, injuring 11 people, regional health officials reported.
- Astra and eyewitnesses reported a drone strike on the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant in Russia's Udmurt Republic, over 800 km from Ukraine.
- The Votkinsk Plant produces both Iskander-M short-range missiles and intercontinental ballistic missiles and expanded amid the war, reportedly bypassing sanctions via foreign supplies, Kyiv Independent reported.
- Locals posted videos showing black smoke and shattered windows near the site, locals and Astra reported two workshops were damaged and power was cut to a nearby military plant, and Aleksandr Brechalov said `According to operational data, there are damages and casualties`.
- Ukraine has previously used long-range drones, including a July 2025 Izhevsk hit and Jan. 28 sabotage, as Russia's Iskander-M production nearly tripled in 2024.
- The Feb. 20 attack highlights how the plant's expansion during 2025 linked to more devastating missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, involving manufacturing of ICBM components at Votkinsk.
