Ukraine Strikes Russian Air Bases, Destroying Over 40 Aircraft; Russia Responds with Record Drone and Missile Attack
- Ukraine conducted an audacious coordinated drone attack on multiple Russian air bases on a recent weekend, destroying over 40 aircraft deep inside Russia.
- The operation, code-named 'Spiderweb,' was planned over more than a year and involved concealment of FPV drones inside wooden mobile homes transported up to 2,800 miles into Russian territory.
- The assault focused on key military targets, including long-range bombers and A-50 surveillance aircraft, resulting in the incapacitation of over one-third of Russia's strategic bomber forces and representing a significant advancement in the use of drones in combat.
- President Zelenskyy confirmed deploying 117 drones, and analysts noted the comparatively low cost of FPV drones versus the multibillion-dollar bombers they destroyed, while Russia acknowledged aircraft damage but reports on exact numbers vary.
- Though the strike will have limited impact on Russia's broader nuclear capabilities, it exposes vulnerabilities in Russian air defenses and helps reduce the threat to NATO and its allies by degrading strategic aviation assets.

The Ukrainians say that they damaged or destroyed roughly a third of Russia’s strategic cruise-missile carriers, striking targets at bases from the Arctic Circle in Murmansk all the way to the far end of the Eurasian steppe along the Mongolian border in Irkuts…

Will Russia's retaliation to Ukraine's strategic drone strikes...
Tonight will be fateful for the conflict's future. Ukraine carried out strategic drone strikes on Sunday against several bases all across Russia that are known to house elements of its nuclear triad. This came a day before the second round of the newly resumed Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul and less than a week after Trump warned Putin that "bad things..REALLY BAD" might soon happen to Russia. It therefore can't be ruled out that he knew ab…
