Ukraine has recaptured 700 sq km (270 sq miles) of its territory this year, outgoing Commander in Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Wednesday, confirming he was leaving the top military job.
The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, officially confirmed his resignation on Wednesday. In his final statement, he said that Ukraine had regained control of 700 square kilometers of territory this year and was handing over an army capable of offensive operations to his successor.
