Ukraine has asked Turkey to host a Zelenskiy-Putin meeting, FM says
Kyiv is seeking a summit to revive stalled U.S.-led peace talks as Turkey has previously served as a mediator between the two sides.
- Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that Kyiv has asked Turkey to host a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to reinvigorate stalled peace efforts.
- With Washington's attention gripped by the Iran war, U.S.-mediated negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow have made little headway on key territorial issues over the past year, leaving talks on ice.
- On Tuesday, Sybiha told reporters, "We asked the Turks about it," adding that Kyiv would consider any capital other than Moscow or Belarus to facilitate the summit.
- Simultaneously, a Ukrainian drone attack on a residential building in the Russian city of Syzran killed a woman and a child Wednesday, with local officials reporting 12 others injured.
