Ukraine defence chief urges allies to send PAC-3 air-defence missiles
Ukraine's allies pledged $35 billion in military aid including air defence systems and 1,000 multi-role missiles to bolster defenses amid ongoing Russian attacks.
- On Thursday at the UDCG meeting in Brussels, John Healey announced allied nations pledged $35 billion in military aid and a UK air-defence package exceeding 500 million pounds.
- Targeting of heat and power infrastructure by Russia prompted urgent defence needs after another barrage of Russian missiles and drones overnight, Kyiv says.
- Donations include specific interceptor and missile deliveries such as five of 12 Pac-3 interceptor missiles offered conditionally to support the `city dome project` and 1,000 lightweight multi-role missiles to Ukraine.
- The pledges are expected to bolster urban air protection and thus increase pressure on Russia while Ukraine's metropolitan areas are better protected, Healey said.
- Healey urged allies to make 2026 the year the war ends by pressing for major commitments, setting the agenda for the Munich Security Conference which kicks off on Friday with Sir Keir Starmer expected to attend.
