- Met Office chief forecaster Neil Armstrong said cold Arctic air is driving the UK's first notable cold snap, with North Sea wintry showers expected to affect the North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds.
- Significant snow accumulations of up to 25cm above 100m are possible over the North York Moors and parts of the Yorkshire Wolds, with 2-5 cm in areas with frequent showers.
- Motorists and passengers face power cuts and travel delays, while some train and bus services are expected to be delayed or cancelled, risking stranded vehicles and passengers, the Met Office said.
- Multiple yellow national severe weather warnings remain in place for Northern Ireland, Wales, northern and southwest England, and much of Scotland, with conditions expected to be drier and milder by Friday, the Met Office said.
