UK to deploy more soldiers and preposition ammunition in Estonia
The new force will use mobile vehicles, advanced weapons and drones as the UK says analysis showed it would outperform traditional armour.
- On Thursday, Defense Minister Dan Jarvis visited Tallinn to sign a new defense agreement with Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, transitioning the UK's armored presence into a Mobile Anti-Armour Force equipped with highly mobile vehicles and drones.
- The shift follows extensive wargaming with Estonia showing traditional armor is vulnerable to surveillance and precision strikes, as demonstrated in Ukraine. Jarvis said "a more mobile, agile force would have a greater effect against Russia than traditional armour."
