UK may be on track to see worst year for wildfires, data shows
- The UK may have its worst year for wildfires, with 115 blazes reported and over 95 square miles burned in 2025, according to the European Forest Fire Information System figures.
- This year is the second worst on record for fires and area burned, with only 2019 worse for area and 2022 for number of fires.
- As reported by the National Fire Chiefs Council, fire and rescue services have responded to 411 wildfires in the UK this year, more than double the number in the same period of 2022.
