Figures released by the UK National Statistics Office on April 16 showed that the UK's inflation rate fell in March this year and was lower than expected. This means that the rate of price increases has slowed down, but the economic community expects that the inflation rate will rise significantly from April as various expenses increase and business costs increase.

Borrowing - the difference between total public sector spending and income - was £16.4 billion in March 2025. this was £2.8 billion more than in March 2024 and the third-highest March borrowing since monthly records began in 1993.

Public sector borrowing totalled �16.44 billion in March, up from �12.31 billion in February, and higher than �12.7 billion the year before.
