'Offensive' Strip Show at UK Football Club Sparks Profuse Apology
The club said video clips showed part of the ticketed 18+ show went beyond venue standards and it is reviewing hire terms.
On Tuesday, Banbury United Football Club apologized after footage from the UK Pleasure Boys' 'Wet & Wild' show at The Spencer Clubhouse on Saturday, October 17, showed performance acts that 'went beyond what we find acceptable at our venue.'
Billed as the 'ultimate girls' night out,' the 18+ event promised 'high-energy strip routines' with audience participation; the venue was booked by an external promoter as part of a UK-wide tour.
Viral videos circulating online reportedly show male dancers in cowboy hats stripping, with clips appearing to capture 'inappropriate' sexual acts between performers and audience members during the performance.
Adrenalin Promotions manager John Woodward said the company is investigating, while Banbury United stated, 'We are reviewing what happened and will revise our hire and conduct terms for performance events as a result.'
Performers with the UK Pleasure Boys are self-employed and not governed by formal policies regarding show content, according to Woodward, as the club distances itself from the event.
