Tropical Cyclone Tapah prompts transport cancellations, school suspensions, and flooding warnings as it nears the Pearl River Estuary, with winds reaching up to 180 km/h, officials said.
- On Sunday night, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau warned a Typhoon Signal No. 8 may be issued between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. as Tropical Cyclone Tapah intensifies.
- Meteorologists say Tapah is intensifying and at 6 pm was about 290 kilometres from Macao, moving north-northwest at 20 kilometres per hour with winds expected to strengthen Monday evening.
- TurboJET announced that ferry sailings between Hong Kong and Macao were cancelled and it halted remaining Sunday services, while Macao's international airport cancelled 38 flights and the Education and Youth Development Bureau suspended classes for infants and special‑needs children.
- Once hoisted, the No. 8 signal will suspend public transport services and close most offices and businesses, while a yellow storm surge warning forecasts 0.5 to 1 metre flooding in the Inner Harbour District tomorrow.
