Two people die in Fukushima house fire; elderly couple unable to contact each other (Kyodo News)

At around 11:40 a.m. on the 8th, an emergency call was made from the home of Tadayoshi Yokokawa (82), an unemployed man from Nagaroku-cho, Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, reporting that smoke was coming out. According to the Sukagawa Police Station, the fire was put out about two hours later, and two bodies were found on the first floor of the burned two-story wooden house. Yokokawa lived with his wife, who is in her 80s.
