The two people under investigation, residents of the Alicante town of Petrer, could face a prison sentence of up to two years for a crime against fauna and flora.
Officials of the Seprona de la Guardia Civil de Almansa have investigated two neighbors of Petrer, 29 and 35 years old, as alleged responsible for the illegal release of the yacaré caiman found last July in the Almansa swamp. Both are charged with two crimes against flora and fauna and another against animals for the possession and abandonment of a protected species.
