Two gliders entered Hungarian airspace from Austria without permission or radio contact on Tuesday afternoon. The crew of the Hungarian Defence Forces search and rescue helicopter, which was alerted from the Pápa base, eventually contacted the pilots using hand signals, so there was no need to launch fighter jets.
There was no contact, so it was necessary to intervene.
The shift leader of the Air Operations and Control Center reported early in the afternoon that the pilot of the glider that had entered Hungarian airspace from Austria had not established radio contact with air traffic services.
