Two teens charged with murder over fatal stabbing of man in busy Essex park
Police said CCTV, witness interviews and forensic work led to charges after the fatal stabbing of Radwan Shakur, 21.
Two teenagers have been charged with the murder of Radwan Shakur, 21, who was stabbed at Central Park in Chelmsford. Romeo Mfinda, 18, and a 17-year-old boy also face charges of possessing cannabis and a knife in a public place.
Essex Police found Shakur with stab wounds at the park on Friday evening, leading to the arrest of three teenagers; a 14-year-old boy was released under investigation and an 18-year-old man released on bail.
Family members described Shakur, from Wembley, as a "kind soul loved by his family and everyone that knew him," noting he "had such hopes and dreams for his future" and was looking forward to university.
Both defendants appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates on Monday, where cases were sent to Chelmsford Crown Court due to the serious nature of the charges. Mfinda and the 17-year-old were remanded in custody.
Detective Inspector Lydia George, who is leading the investigation, said it remains ongoing utilizing CCTV and witness statements. Officers continue to urge anyone with information to contact them via a dedicated public portal.
