Twins Prospect Walker Jenkins Helps Fainting Child Before Saints Game
Walker Jenkins carried the boy to the dugout, where medics treated him, as the Saints beat Buffalo 12-6.
On Tuesday, Minnesota Twins prospect Walker Jenkins rescued a young fan who began to faint during the national anthem at CHS Field. Jenkins, playing for the St. Paul Saints, carried the boy to the dugout for medical assistance.
The incident occurred as high temperatures swept across the region, with the boy, identified as Lincoln, suffering from dehydration due to 90-plus degree heat. Experts note that widespread heat waves have impacted much of the country this week.
Upon carrying the child toward the first-base dugout, Jenkins handed him to lead athletic trainer Chase Thompson. Thompson utilized ice packs and Gatorade to stabilize the fan before on-site medics performed a health evaluation.
The St. Paul Saints confirmed Wednesday that Lincoln is recovering well after receiving treatment. The team also shared photos of the boy wearing a new Walker Jenkins T-shirt, noting that medics advised him to remain indoors.
Known as "Captain America," Jenkins lived up to his nickname by performing well on the field later that day. He went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, leading the Saints to a 12-6 victory over the Buffalo Bisons.
