Lewis' RBI Single Saves Twins From Late-Game Collapse
Royce Lewis delivered Minnesota’s first walk-off of the season after the Twins erased a seven-run lead and won their seventh game in 11 tries.
On Friday night in Minneapolis, Royce Lewis hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 9-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies after squandering a seven-run lead.
Early home runs from Kody Clemens and Brooks Lee powered the Twins to a 7-0 lead by the fifth inning, supported by starter Taj Bradley who held the Rockies scoreless through seven innings.
The Colorado Rockies rallied in the late innings, capped by Hunter Goodman hitting a 451-foot, 22nd home run off Anthony Banda to briefly take an 8-7 lead during a five-run ninth.
With the game tied in the 10th, Kyler Fedko advanced to third on a wild pitch by Jimmy Herget before scoring the winning run on Lewis's single through the infield.
Riding their seventh win in 11 games, the Minnesota Twins prepare for Saturday's contest, where RHP Mike Paredes will face Colorado Rockies RHP Michael Lorenzen.
