- Fulfilling a campaign promise, Chief Minister Joseph Vijay initiated the report to provide transparency regarding the difficult fiscal situation inherited from the previous administration.
- Finance Minister Marie Wilson reported the state's direct debt surged to nearly Rs 10 lakh crore, with the revenue deficit reaching a "new high, not seen so far" of Rs 78,324 crore.
- For every rupee earned, nearly 22.8 paise covers interest obligations, while the debt-to-GSDP ratio of 28.3 per cent trails economic peers like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
- The TVK government plans to use these findings as a roadmap for fiscal reforms, which includes a recently announced crop loan waiver up to Rs 75,000 for farmers.
