Turkey Detains 324 Suspected of ISIS Group Links
Authorities said the raids targeted suspects tied to financing, recruitment and past activity in the Islamic State group.
On Wednesday, Turkish police detained 324 suspects across 47 provinces in a nationwide operation targeting links to the Islamic State, the Interior Ministry said.
Routine counterterrorism sweeps have become a staple of domestic security policy, with the Interior Ministry stating operations continue "day and night" to ensure national peace and unity.
Turkey has faced repeated attacks linked to the Islamic State over the last decade, including a 2017 New Year attack at an Istanbul nightclub that killed 39 people.
Authorities are also investigating suspected extremist links in other incidents, including an April shooting near the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul, which Interior Minister Mustafa Cifti linked to a group "exploiting religion."
While officials have not yet said whether detainees will face formal charges, the raids involved support from the General Directorate of Security and the National Intelligence Organization.
