- Portugal, led by Neemias Queta, snapped an 18-year EuroBasket drought with a win over the Czech Republic, their first since a 94-85 victory against Israel in 2007.
- Cedi Osman paced Turkey with 20 points, Kenan Sipahi scored 19, and Alperen Sengun contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Latvia trailed 72-55 after three quarters and Kristaps Porzingis scored three of 12 shots by halftime.
- Latvia faces Estonia on Friday while Turkey national basketball team plays the Czech Republic, with Group A matches and knockout rounds held in Riga from Sept. 6 to Sept. 14.
- Replete with NBA-level talent, the tournament saw Germany beat Montenegro 106 in Tampere, Finland, after a 33-12 third-quarter run sparked by four 3-pointers from Andreas Obst.
