Trump’s tariffs and threats against Canada are reprehensible. But here’s why I’m not giving up on U.S. products just yet
While the consequences could be dire for Canada’s economy, I am heartened by what I am seeing and hearing from many observers south of the border. It gives me hope that we will overcome the challenges posed by the Trump administration’s combative position.
In times of chaos, pray
Earlier this year, prompted by the United States President Trump’s threats of tariffs and annexing Canada as a 51st state, I wrote about hope. In that column I drew on the example of James Cameron, an American Civil Rights leader, who, despite surviving a lynching, came to understand hatred leads to disappointment, whereas love enables one to “blossom like a flower in the sun every day.”
