Trump to participate in G7 working session with Zelenskyy: official
Trump will press allies on Ukraine funding, supply chains and migration while holding separate meetings with leaders from Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, France and India.
On Monday, President Donald Trump travels to Evian, France, for the G7 summit, where he will join a Tuesday working session with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other G7 leaders.
Senior administration officials reported Saturday that Russian advances in Ukraine have 'more or less stopped,' with the administration seeking to end the war 'as quickly as possible' ahead of Trump's engagement with G7 partners.
Beyond the working session, Trump will hold separate bilateral meetings with leaders of France, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and India. No formal bilateral with Zelensky is planned, though the two leaders could meet on the sidelines.
Liana Fix, an associate fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, told AFP that European leaders have been on the 'receiving end' of Trump's trade pressure and have learned to 'hope for the best but to expect the worst.'
Trump will attend a dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palace of Versailles on Wednesday before returning to Washington. The summit agenda includes economic growth, supply-chain resilience, illegal migration, and artificial intelligence.
Trump and Zelensky will take part in the same working meeting of the G7 summit in France on Tuesday and the US President will have dinner with Macron the next day.
