Trump to Repeal Finding that Greenhouse Gases Threaten Health

Environmental Protection Agency officials said the agency is finalizing a rule that will rescind the 2009 endangerment finding, after submitting it to OMB earlier this year.
The Trump administration has worked on the repeal for over a year, with Karoline Leavitt stating, 'This week at the White House, President Trump will be taking the most significant deregulatory actions in history to further unleash American energy dominance and drive down costs.'
The endangerment finding named six greenhouse gases and provided the legal basis for regulating them, while EPA says rescinding it would remove authority under Section 202 of the Clean Air Act to set motor vehicle emissions standards.
Legal analysts warn the move is vulnerable to immediate court challenges that could reach the Supreme Court, as a federal court last month ruled the Department of Energy advisory group violated the law and environmental organizations plan to sue.
The change could prompt states to craft their own rules while automakers face tens of billions in costs, and the CBO found nearly $1 trillion of real estate is threatened by rising seas.
