Trump Knocks Brown University over Security Cameras After FBI Criticized
Brown University has about 1,200 security cameras, but none covered the older engineering building section where the shooting occurred, officials said.
- On Saturday, Dec. 13, a gunman opened fire inside the Barus & Holley engineering building at Brown University, killing two and injuring nine; President Donald Trump questioned on Truth Social why the university had so few security cameras.
- Brown University President Christina Paxson noted the campus has around 1,200 security cameras, while Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said the shooting occurred in an older section with fewer, if any, cameras after a recent addition.
- New exterior video shows the person of interest emerging onto Hope Street from lot 42, while law enforcement said they have no footage of the individual inside the building.
- More than 80 hours into the investigation, the suspect remained at large, possibly surveying the neighborhood, with the FBI describing him as "a male, approximately 5'8" with a stocky build."
- Neronha said, 'That is a modern building attached to a much older one in the back,' and the shooting occurred in the old part near Hope Street, with fewer cameras, he explained.
