A Romanian mechanic who had been living in Spain for almost 20 years lost his life in the devastating fire in Tres Cantos, Madrid, while trying to save horses from a stud farm where he worked. Mircea Spiridon, 50, was seriously injured in the flames that consumed over 2,000 hectares and died in hospital, leaving behind a grieving family.
