Woman Dies Following A19 Collision in North Yorkshire
Police said the Skoda driver died at the scene while the BMW driver was taken to hospital after the two-car collision.
On Wednesday, July 1, a fatal collision occurred on the A19 near Great Thirkleby, close to Thirsk, involving a grey BMW travelling north and a Skoda Fabia travelling south at approximately 2:20 p.m.
Emergency services, including two air ambulances, responded to the incident shortly after 2:20 p.m., with Yorkshire Ambulance Service dispatching two ambulances and a specialist paramedic critical care crew to the scene.
The female driver of the Skoda was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the BMW driver was taken to hospital for treatment. North Yorkshire Police appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage to contact them quoting reference 12260123305.
Specially trained officers are providing support to the family of the deceased driver following the collision. The road was temporarily blocked as police managed the scene and turned vehicles around.
North Yorkshire Police continue to examine the scene near Thirkleby Hall to determine factors contributing to the fatal crash, urging the public to share any relevant information with investigators.
