Toyota wins Le Mans 24-hour race to end Ferrari's win streak in the endurance classic
Kamui Kobayashi’s late surge helped Toyota control the final hours and end Ferrari’s three-race Le Mans winning streak.
- On Sunday, Toyota won the Le Mans 24-hour race in France, defeating BMW and Cadillac in a close, race-long fight for the manufacturer's sixth victory in the endurance racing showpiece.
- Kamui Kobayashi seized an opportunity when a safety car bunched the field with six hours remaining, delivering fast laps to surge into the lead for Toyota drivers Mike Conway, Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries, who had started fourth Sunday morning.
- The Inter Europol team of Tom Dillmann, Jakub Smiechowski, and Nick Yelloly won the LMP2 class, while Nicky Catsburg, Jonny Edgar, and Ben Keating claimed the GT3 class in a Corvette. BMW's Sheldon van der Linde, Robin Frijns, and Rene Rast finished second.
- Cadillac's No. 12 crew of Louis Deletraz, Will Stevens, and Norman Nato finished fourth after the manufacturer's other entries hit trouble overnight. Ferrari, which won the last three races, struggled significantly with its best car placing fifth.
- Toyota's second car, driven by Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa, led through Saturday evening before dropping back during the night to finish third. The dual-Toyota strategy secured the manufacturer's first Le Mans win since a run of five consecutive victories ended in 2022.
