Tomb Raiders Breaking Into Cemeteries Across U.S. to Steal From the Dead, Florida Deputies Say
Investigators say the trio stole jewelry and heirlooms from about 20 Florida cemetery cases and may have victimized many more families.
- The Orange County Sheriff's Office is searching for three individuals accused of stealing family heirlooms from mausoleum niches, identified as Drake Lee Milam, 33; Porsche Bancroft, 32; and Angela Garrett, 52.
- Investigators suspect the trio, who are from Indianapolis, have targeted cemeteries in at least nine states, with 20 documented incidents in Orange, Seminole, and Hillsborough counties and Winter Park during March and April 2026.
- More than $35,000 worth of property was stolen from niches, often targeting wedding rings left with cremated remains. "Typically in these mausoleums, inside of a niche, their urn is inside of it," a sheriff's official said.
- The Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution is handling the case while officials urge families to check gravesites for disturbances. "If you haven't visited your loved one in a while, make sure that your property is still there," an official said.
- Anyone with information about the suspects' whereabouts should contact Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477, as the Sheriff's Office is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
