Toluca Beats LAFC 4-0 to Reach an All-Mexican CONCACAF Champions Cup Final
On Wednesday, Deportivo Toluca FC defeated Los Angeles Football Club 4-0 at Estadio Nemesio Diez, clinching a 5-2 aggregate victory to reach the Concacaf Champions Cup final.
Entering the match with a 2-1 deficit from last week's opener at BMO Stadium, Toluca overcame the gap despite missing national team players Alexis Vega and Jesús Gallardo.
Helinho powered home a 49th-minute penalty, Everardo Lopez struck in the 58th minute, and Paulinho added two stoppage-time goals after Ryan Porteous was sent off in the 88th minute.
The result sets up a title match against UANL Tigres, who advanced Tuesday by defeating Nashville SC 2-0 on aggregate.
Mexican clubs have claimed the championship trophy 20 times in the past 21 years, with the 2022 Seattle Sounders title run being the only exception in that span.
