- A fire broke out on July 29, 2025, in an HDB flat at Block 229 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, starting on the 10th floor and spreading to the 11th and 12th floors.
- Emergency responders were notified around 1pm and reacted promptly to the fire, evacuating residents, although some individuals remained trapped on the upper floors awaiting assistance.
- Seven individuals, including a firefighter who suffered smoke inhalation and a young patient, received medical attention at hospitals, with three evaluated for burns and others treated for smoke-related injuries.
- Mr Saktiandi Supaat, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, said firefighting efforts were ongoing and noted concern for the elderly in this mature estate; by 6.10pm, only residents on floors nine to 13 were barred from returning.
