To the editor: Enlightened self-interest good for Maumee community

Over many years, I often heard Dick Anderson describe why he believed The Andersons enjoyed such success. He talked about equally serving “four publics,” their employees, customers, owners, and communities, which he defined as “enlightened self-interest.” As Maumee citizens will undoubtedly be presented with a critical choice this September, it’s fair to ask “what’s in Maumee’s true self interest and what is the “enlightened” path?
