Tibor Kapu Returns to Hungary After Successful Space Mission
Tibor Kapu became the second Hungarian person to visit outer space on 25 June 2025. He spent 18 days on the International Space Station as part of the Hungarian Government’s HUNOR space programme. He then spent an additional two days on board his spaceship before returning to Earth, bringing the total number of days he was outside the atmosphere to 20. The astronaut was brought home by the Hungarian Defense Forces plane. After landing, he said: the scientific experiments exceeded all expectations. He is now embarking on a tour of the country, but has not yet considered a political career. He believes that it is realistic for a Hungarian astronaut to go to the Moon.
Tibor Kapu got off the plane at Liszt Ferenc International Airport, where his family was waiting for him, holding the Hungarian flag in his hand.
The research astronaut, who spent weeks on the International Space Station as part of the Ax-4 mission, has returned home to Hungary.
Tibor Kapu landed at Liszt Ferenc Airport on August 18th. 24.hu was also present when the Hungarian astronaut arrived.
After his arrival, Hungary's second astronaut held a press conference.
