Three Women Interviewed Under Caution as Part of Mohamed Al Fayed Investigation
Met Police question three women suspected of facilitating sexual offences linked to Mohamed al Fayed; 154 victims have reported abuse, police say.
- Between February 25 and March 5, the Metropolitan Police interviewed three women aged in their 40s, 50s and 60s under caution, treating them as potential suspects with no arrests made.
- Following a BBC documentary aired in 2024, police opened an investigation and have taken detailed accounts from victims and witnesses over 18 months, and the late businessman died in 2023 aged 94.
- So far, 154 people have come forward to report allegations of rape, sexual assault and sexual exploitation, including an alleged selection process and "invasive" gynaecological examinations shared with Fayed.
- Commander Angela Craggs said the questioning of three women is an "important step" and that "victims remain at the centre," and the Met will share updates only when it won’t jeopardise criminal or other proceedings and is determined to bring suspects to justice despite Al Fayed’s death.
- Pressure from survivors' groups and a former senior Met officer has led to calls to widen the inquiry to trafficking, with Justice for Harrods Survivors receiving over 400 enquiries.
