University of Oxford Named Number One in World Rankings for 10th Year
Oxford holds first place for the 10th consecutive year while 11 UK universities entered the top 100, reflecting strength in teaching and research, Times Higher Education said.
The University of Oxford has been ranked number one in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 for the tenth consecutive year.
The University of Cambridge climbed to joint third place in the rankings, improving from fifth place in 2025.
This year, 49 UK universities made it into the top 500, marking the first time since 2016 that this number has dropped below 50.
A spokesperson for LSE mentioned that social science universities are at a disadvantage in rankings that favor broader institutions with engineering and medical faculties.
