- On Monday, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said three Turkish police officers and six Islamic State militants were killed in a shootout after police raided a house in Elmalik/Elmali village, Yalova province.
- Part of a nationwide sweep, the operation involved more than 100 raids in 15 provinces after authorities said intelligence showed IS planned attacks over Christmas and New Year.
- At about 2 a.m., police began the raid which ended at 9:40 a.m., evacuating five women and six children, cutting natural gas and electricity supplies, and suspending five nearby schools.
- Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said five suspects were taken into custody as prosecutors were appointed to lead the investigation, and Erdogan pledged to continue fighting `the killers with bloody hands` on X.
