Human Remains Confirmed to Be Taylor Charlton
Police say the 14-year-old’s family has been informed, while two people arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail as inquiries continue.
On Friday, July 31, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that human remains found in the River Taw on June 24 belong to missing teenager Taylor Charlton from North Devon.
Charlton was 14 at the time of his disappearance on May 8 in Barnstaple, which triggered a large-scale search operation after he was reported missing.
Two individuals—a woman in her 40s and a 20-year-old man—remain on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance.
Police are "extremely saddened" to confirm the death, adding detectives will "continue to establish the full facts" during the ongoing investigation into Charlton's death.
The force urged the public to avoid speculation and contact police by calling 101, as the investigation into the teenager's death remains ongoing.
