UPDATED: Thunderstorms knock out power to more than 80,000 across Northern Virginia

Update, 7:40 p.m. - Dominion Energy is reporting close to 80,000 customers without power in Northern Virginia, with about 54,000 of those in Fairfax County, 10,000 in Arlington, 5,000 in Alexandria and 3,000 in Stafford.

More than 80,000 customers are without power across the region after a strong line of thunderstorms moved through Thursday, bringing down trees and power lines.

Thunderstorms are impacting the region and this is leading to heavy rains and high gusts of wind in some areas. We are currently tracking outages in the Maryland-area due to the severe weather.
