Thought for the week: A hand up not a hand out

When I first began to volunteer in support of refugees, I assumed most people had similar motives to myself. There is actually an array of reasons why people volunteer to help people who are seeking sanctuary. For me, having to leave my home would be terrible, and I have huge compassion for those who are left with nothing because of conflicts and, increasingly, the effects of climate change.
