The new Leiden Central Station, scheduled for completion in 2040, will have a completely different look than the current white structure of steel beams. In Leiden, the station is also known as the "laundry rack." The new station will align more closely with the new development around Stationsplein, giving the area a more distinctive character. Furthermore, buses will be moved away from street level.
