Environmental diplomacy emerged from this third United Nations Conference on the Ocean. "Nice commitments for the ocean" were presented on Friday, at the end of the summit, and the Treaty on the High Seas is on track to be ratified.
The third UN conference on the ocean was concluded on 13 June with half-tone ambitions. In the midst of the crisis of multilateralism, however, steps have been taken in the defence of ecosystems on the high seas or in the fight against plastic pollution.

On Friday 13 June, the UN summit on the oceans ended with concrete advances, but the absence of restrictions on oil or plastic made teeth gnashing.
In addition to the major declarations of intent that marked the summit during the week, the hope that the Treaty on the High Seas would enter into force next year allows France and Costa Rica to show concrete success.
