Third person dies after Austin mass shooting that officials say may have been motivated by Iran strikes
Three victims, including two college students and an MMA fighter, were killed and over a dozen injured in a shooting under FBI review for potential ideological motives.
- Sunday night, a gunman opened fire on Sixth Street from a large SUV, killing two and wounding 14; officers reached and killed 53-year-old suspect Ndiaga Diagne in under a minute.
- FBI officials say investigators are examining a Pflugerville home and noted the suspect wore an Iranian-flag shirt under a hoodie reading `Property of Allah`, suggesting possible terrorism links.
- Emergency medical officials reported more than 20 EMS resources responded, with all critical patients off scene within 24 minutes and all patients within 47 minutes; three hospitalized victims remain in critical condition.
- State officials also directed the Texas Military Department to activate patrols and increase weekend law enforcement in the Sixth Street area, while leaders praised first responders and offered condolences.
- The shooting joins at least 56 mass incidents this year, and records show Diagne entered the US on March 13, 2000, later naturalizing on April 5, 2013, CNN reported.
