India warns Pakistan military attacks will get 'very firm response'
- On May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in retaliation for a terrorist attack in Kashmir last month.
- The operation responded to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, amid ongoing ceasefire violations and artillery shelling by Pakistan along the Line of Control.
- India claimed the strikes targeted terrorist camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, while Pakistan denied harboring such camps and reported at least 31 civilian deaths from Indian attacks.
- Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said India’s response was “targeted and measured” but warned that any Pakistani military attack will receive a “very very firm response.”
- The escalating conflict triggered global concern and calls for restraint, with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urging dialogue, while both India and Pakistan pledged readiness for further military action.
