The Order of the Knights of Malta came to public attention after, following searches at the house of Călin Georgescu in Mogosoaia, the investigators discovered a legitimation presented as "diplomatic" document of the organization. The official representatives of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta maintain, however, that Georgescu is not a member and that the document found in his home is "wholly falsified".
