Double Injury Boost for Arsenal Pre-Sunderland Clash
Arteta said both defenders have trained well and could be available for the next two matches, leaving William Saliba as Arsenal's only absentee.
Champions Arsenal visit the Stadium of Light on Saturday night to face Sunderland after a 1-0 Champions League win over Napoli, having conceded only once in their opening three league games.
Manager Mikel Arteta faces defensive concerns with William Saliba sidelined since the World Cup, while Jurrien Timber has battled a groin problem since March and Cristhian Mosquera suffered a muscular injury against Aston Villa.
Arteta said Timber "has been doing really well" and "looks in good shape" after training for several days, stating he "could be available for this game or the next one," while confirming no new issues from Naples.
Mosquera is expected back in the next couple of games, though neither defender is expected to start unless there is a late change, while Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris confirmed Friday that Diarra and Mundle are unavailable.
The Black Cats hope to build on last season's 2-2 draw, as Arsenal maintain strong defensive form with only one goal conceded in three league games, despite relying on Gabriel Magalhães, Mosquera and summer signing Ezri Konsa in Saliba's absence.
