The Sejm supported the candidacy of Mateusz Szpytma for president of the Institute of National Remembrance.
Mateusz Szpytma (born 1975) is a graduate of the History Faculty, History (1999) and the Faculty of Law and Administration, Political Science (2001) at the Jagiellonian University. At the same university, he also defended his PhD in the history of modern Poland, written under the direction of Professor Andrzej Chwalba.

Historian and current Deputy President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr. Mateusz Szpytma, was elected by the Sejm (lower house of parliament) on July 17 as President of the Institute of National Remembrance – Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation. His candidacy was approved thanks to the votes of the Law and Justice (PiS) and Polish People's Party (PSL).
Dr. Mateusz Szpytma was elected president of the Institute of National Remembrance by the Sejm. The Senate must now make a decision.
